Learn from Legends: Sam Carter

November 27, 2017

Sam Carter, born in 1988 in Brighton, is the singer of British metalcore band Architects. At age 29 he might not be old enough to be a legend yet, but he certainly has done some legendary stuff already.

Like the rest of the band, Sam carter is a hardcore vegan and promotes this lifestyle though his music. Moreover, he is the British ambassador for the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, a group of environmental activists that believe in direct action rather than protesting. However, the real reason to write this article is this viral video of Carter at Lowlands festival in the Netherlands last summer.

The frontman stopped the concert as he witnessed a guy groping a girl by her breast while she was crowdsurfing. He called out the guy, yelling: "It is not your f*cking body, it is not your f*cking body and you do not f*cking grab at someone. Not at my f*cking show. So if you feel like doing that again, walk out there and f*ck off and don't come back.”

He pointed out a problem that many women encounter when they go out. Guys that maybe had a drink too many and think it is okay, funny, or even normal to grope a girl without her consent. Unfortunately this is nothing new, it has been going on for years.

Let us learn from Sam Carter: when you see something like this happening speak up, confront those who were misbehaving, and talk to the victim! Or as Carter's puts it: "Let's keep this going, let's keep this a f*cking safe place for everybody, and let's have a f*cking good time."
